Kashi Vishwanath Gold Temple
This temple is constructed from gold. Hence it is also called Golden Temple or Gold Temple. Because 1000 kg of gold has been used in the construction of this temple. Raja Ranjit Singh who was the king of the princely state of Lahore. For the construction of this temple, Raja Ranjit Singh gave 1000 kg of gold as a gift. Three domes have been built on the summit of Kashi Vishwanath temple. These domes are made entirely of gold. These domes look very beautiful.
Design of Kashi Vishwanath Temple
The huge Shivling of Lord Shiva is enshrined in Kashi Vishwanath Temple. It is the grand and biggest Shivling of Lord Shiva. Apart from this huge Shivling, other small temples have also been established in the Vishwanath temple. Among them, there are major temples - Kaal Bhairava, Avimukteshwar, Vishnu, Vinayaka, Sunishwara and Virupaksha etc. The Vishwanath Shivalinga is up to 60 cm in length and has an average circumference of 90 cm. This huge Shivling is decorated with silver.
This entire Shivalinga is completely covered with silver cover. A small well is also built in the premises of the temple. This well is known as Gyanvarvaya. This well was built in ancient times to avoid any war. There is a time when this temple was attacked by an enemy. Lord Shiva ordered the priest to move into the well to protect it from attack. And the priest had saved his life by jumping into the well.
Kashi Vishwanath Temple was repeatedly broke
In ancient times, this temple was damaged in 1194 AD Kashi Vishwanath Temple. This temple was demolished by King Qutbuddin Aibak of Mughal princely state. This temple was rebuilt by Sultan Iltumish. Sultan Iltumish is considered a rich merchant of Gujarat. The reign of Sultan Iltumish was from 1211 to 1266 in Gujarat.
The Vishwanath temple was destroyed again during the reigns of Hussain Shah Sharki and Alexander Lodhi. And after some time, King Mansingh became king during the reign of Akbar. Then the construction work of this temple was started back in 1669 by Raja Man Singh.
